'Twas the season

Seasons Greetings!

Well, 'twas the season to fall off track again with my regular blog postings! At least I didn't let it go too long this time!

Life here has been crazy-busy, and I've been enjoying every moment of it. I've been focused on the usual housekeeping, baking, decorating, shopping and wrapping rush; but exciting things are also happening in the business of art for me. I know that it's a bit of a tease; but enough about that for now. I'll update again soon as things progress.

The real purpose of today's message is to wish you Happy Holidays! Whatever that means for you, I hope that it's a wonderful season for you and yours.

Beaver Lake

This is a non-art post; but I just couldn't resist. I live in the "Sandhills" region of North Carolina. It's an area that's relatively dry, and the drainage is great. My yard is usually a little over an acre of dry grassy sand.....until recently!

Beavers have been persistently building and rebuilding a damn on a neighboring piece of property for the last month. Thus, I introduce Beaver Lake. The yellow house belongs to a neighbor, and it's also a typically dry piece of property.

I always wanted to live on the water; but this wasn't exactly what I had in mind!

Bottlecap Jewelry

Here's a sample of the new bottlecap jewelry that I'm adding to my store inventory at Etsy. ( www.jeanskipper.etsy.com) I listed these first two pieces today, and more will follow.

I've been a fan of bottlecap jewelry for some time. That combined with my love of found objects, especially miniatures, lead me to enshrine these objects in a bottlecap with a clear coat of resin. I've also been trying to simplify my designs lately, and these are an example of that effort.

If it's less than an inch in diameter, and it sits still for too long in my house, we call it a treasure. (And it will probably end up in one of my creations!) Each piece of this jewelry is unique, and they always draw lots of compliments when worn.
